Eileen Ryan is an interdisciplinary artist creating installations, photography and time based projections that explore the environment, water, youth and memory. Her daily walking meditation practice is along the shore of Lake Michigan, photographing the horizon, sharing the images on social media, daily since 2013. The discarded plastics washed ashore is transformed in the studio into quilted assemblages and sculptural forms that become projection surfaces for the horizon photographs. The resulting multimedia works merge photography, video projection, and reclaimed plastic sculpture, uniting the beauty of the lake’s horizon with the physical remnants of its pollution.
